Hey there! I’m Amanda

I’m an aspiring author and a self-proclaimed cat whisperer. I pride myself on having a great set of brows and a pair of adorable cat boys named Titan and Winston.

In 2013, I graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. in Journalism and Media Studies, and I was ready to take on the world with my writing. However, no matter how optimistic I was, finding a job was HARD. I applied to jobs and internships and allowed my writing to take me wherever the wind was blowing me. I worked in Los Angeles, CA and Dallas, TX, but I wasn’t satisfied with how my career was turning out. I wanted SO MUCH MORE.

Around the 2-year mark after graduation, I started working in other fields. I became a teacher’s assistant, a vet tech…you name it, I’ve most likely done it! Then a year ago, I decided to abandon the latter and go back to my roots. I started writing my book, and I put more of my efforts into my mental health and the things that made me happy. My hope is that this blog can combine all of those things into one place!

I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression for most of my life. For most of that time, I didn’t really understand what anxiety and depression can do to my life and how it could affect me. I started talk therapy when I was 23 years old. Since then, I’ve worked on my mental health through DBT, group therapy, trauma sessions, and one-on-one talks. Mental health has become one of the most important elements of my life, and I would love to share my knowledge and advice with others. I’m no expert, but I am more than willing to learn everything there is to know along the way.

I hope you’ll enjoy the journey with me! With a little effort and belief, we can remove the stigmas attached to mental health and work on having healthier, more meaningful relationships.
